Our Services
Services
Lizzards Preschool & Long Day Care has been caring and educating children in Hawkesbury Heights, Winmalee and Springwood area since 1994. We provide a stimulating, safe and happy environment for children aged between 0 – 6 years. We are open from 7:00AM to 6:00PM Monday to Friday, 50 weeks per year.
Our Service is also fully accredited to provide you with the new Child Care Subsidy (CCS) as a deduction in your fees.
Run by a former practicing midwife as well as a family health nurse, Mellissa Amirilayeghi has the knowledge and experience in ensuring your loved ones receive the best possible care and education during their stay at Lizzards.
As an added convenience, Lizzards also provides healthy, nutritious meals for all children. Meals are prepared and cooked on site daily. We cater for kids with special dietary and/or religious requirements.
Nursery Room
Educators in the Nursery room will plan, implement and evaluate activities for children’s learning based on the Early Years Learning Framework.
This framework conveys the highest expectations for all children’s learning from birth to five years through the following five learning outcomes:
- Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity.
- Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world.
- Outcome 3: Children have a strong sense of wellbeing.
- Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners.
- Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators.
Preparing for School (Preschool Program)
Here at Lizzards, we value the importance of learning through play where we believe young children learn best through their play experiences. Through play, children have an opportunity to make discoveries, explore resources and build on their imagination & creativity. Our programs are responsive to this and are tailored to each child’s needs and level of development. Our educators closely observe and document each child’s learning, they participate in their play experiences, extend their thinking, scaffold their ideas and intentionally introduce them to new learning.
Play also highlights children’s interests, both individual and peer interests, with these interests respectfully acknowledged and investigated further.
Along with valuing the importance of play, we also believe in the providing children with an educational program that offers skills such as learning about phonics, numerals and meaningful, purposeful activities to build children’s academic skills. Our educational programs reflect this along with the principals and practices of the National Early Years Learning Framework which guides our educational and care programs.
Our Activities
Play 9:00am
Outside play time. Children enjoy some quality outdoor time with educators.
Music 10:15am
Music and movement. It’s time to boogie! Children are encouraged to sing and dance to promote exercise and movement.
Eat 10:30am
Morning tea
Activities 11:00am
Programmed indoor activities. Children are encouraged to participate in various activities including art & craft, counting games, reading, writing or colouring in.
Lunch 12:00pm
Lunch. Lets all eat! All lunches are prepared fresh on site daily. Our menu is nutritious and yummy! Teachers and educators eat the same meal that is served to the kids to encourage healthy eating.
Rest 1:00pm
Quiet/Rest time. Children benefit greatly for some quiet time. Lets recharge those batteries!
Free Play 2:00pm
Free play (outside if weather permits). Time to allow the kids to be just that…kids! Free play is encouraged to allow children to explore, learn and socialise amongst their peers.
